Performance, Choreography  Andrea Nagl
Live-Music, Composition  Karlheinz Essl
Geological support  Reinhard Roetzel

Between deep time and tectonic movement, rock and memory, Andrea Nagl searches for forms of embodiment: What happens when the body sediments, when thinking slows down, when time becomes matter? Based on the medieval tale of Kidhy, experiences of geological fieldwork, and the realization that even solid rock is only a transitional state, her performance invites us to give space to the “meaning of stone” (Novalis) and to think about the world beyond human categories.

Sonanzen
Bruni Sand räumt die Wohnung - ein autobiographisches Gewebe
Performance  Wolfgang Jagschitz, Inge Kaindlstorfer, Bruni Sand
Artistic direction  Inge Kaindlstorfer / luxflux

Photos: Hanna Fasching, 2025

Based on autobiographical texts by Bruni Sand, a whimsical, fairytale-like fabric of language, movement, dance and live music is formed. The trivial mixes with the dramatic - spaces of memory open up and are made to resonate through the actions of the performers: a wide variety of patterns emerge, individual threads are picked up again and again and rewoven in surprising combinations. Playing together in the here and now disturbs the possible nostalgia. The performers escape their twilight and awaken each other - marveling at the never-ending possibilities of being human.

Deer Dreams
- the end of patriarchy, prayer for a cosmic body

We are living in tumultuous times, as we are in the midst of the last days of patriarchy. It is time to change our attitude toward control and domination, particularly in our relationship with planet Earth. In this solo, Robert reflects on the place of human life in the cosmos. How we humans fit into an ecosystem that is not based on the survival of the fittest through aggression, exploitation, and exclusion. Through dance and image, the solo explores a collective mindset that celebrates interconnectedness and inclusion. Robert Steijn has long studied the alchemy of the moment when the sun embraces the moon: the time of the eclipse to change our perception of reality - prayer for a cosmic body - the end of patriarchy.

The common onion (allium cepa) is a plant of the leek family. Cutting onions releases sulphur compounds that irritate our eyes and cause tears. The cultivation technique of cutting onions is passed down from grandmother to mother to daughter. Along the matriline, I follow the discarded onion skins of my family. Trying to get deeper, layer by layer, to my onion-cutting ancestors. Leathery-skinned, garden soil under my fingernails. Do we have a common core?

Ariadne - Fries | Bild-Musik-Installation
Photography and Installation  Christoff Wiesinger
Computermusik "Odyssee"  Günther Rabl

In the Ariadne frieze by Christoff Wiesinger, the story of a struggle with oneself and others is told in fragmentarily superimposed images, performed by the dancer Verena Schneider.
The visual installation is acoustically accompanied by the computer music Odyssee by Günther Rabl, a composition that leads into deeper temporal layers and tells of distant events.

Du Bleda Bua
Performance  Schülande Engaling alias
Voice  Sarah Jung | Drums  Judith Schwarz | Voice/Effects  Anna Widauer
Original text  Christine Nöstlinger: Iba die gaunz oamen Leit | 1st ed., Vienna: Dachs Verlag, 1996

The trio Schülande Engaling interprets texts from Christine Nöstlinger's 1996 poetry collection Iba die gaunz oamen Leit, written in Viennese dialect. In it, Christine Nöstlinger describes personal abysses, people in dependence, in poverty, addicted, marginalized and yet her characters radiate an incredible strength and attraction. The texts are deeply moving and, despite all the tragedy, leave room for the typical Viennese black humor and wit. The trio wants to take Nöstlinger's thoughts and stories into the melodious and, based on the texts, develops sound spaces with which they try to turn the inner life or the emotional power of the texts outwards through the music. The music can only frame the text or open it up. The latter in a wide variety of musical forms, from improvisation to fixed song structures and purely instrumental pieces.

Moritaten aus dem Wienerwald
Performance, Voice  Gilbert Handler with Alexandra Sommerfeld

Something has happened. People have done things that usually have send them to prison. Gilbert Handler has scoured the Wienerwald and its environs. He looked for the big and small criminals of the last few decades and created a wonderful memorial to them in the form of his “Moritaten aus dem Wienerwald”. The legendary burglar king Johann Schani Breitwieser, Jack Unterweger, the angels of death from Lainz, the Klosterneuburg thieves and lesser-known and hapless characters with a criminal streak are sung about. What does the music sound like? A bit like the Prater, Urfahraner and Leopoldi markets, movie soundtracks, Viennese songs and, of course, the big, wide world!
